Permanently Disable Google Auto-Complete by Adding complete=0 to Homepage URL
I clear my cookies cache, and everything else, any time my browser closes and it drives me up a freakin wall that every time I open the browser that the dreaded google auto-complete is there and ready to go.
It sucks because I type faster than it can handle, and I watch the screen while doing it. Because I'm reading while I'm typing, I end up typing whatever random thing that google comes up with instead of what I want to search for!
It's the same concept as those microphone and headphone displays at the science museum; You count from one to ten into the microphone, and the headphones play that back with a several second delay. As soon as you start hearing yourself counting, you start repeating what you hear instead of continuing the count.
Anyway, to get around the problem, I have changed by home page to include a little tidbit on the end of the normal google url. Simply changing the default from
http://www.google.com.au/
to
http://www.google.com.au/?complete=0
This is referenced in a few other places around the net, but they all seem to include webhp or something similar in the URL, which I believe funnels money to whomever "webhp" is. Please correct me if I'm wrong. It works fine without it.
